The Foot Bath and Foot Massage brings sheer joy to the faces of elderly clients either living on their own or in elder care facilities.  On arrival at their place of residence, we start with a warm luxury foot bath that continues with massaging the feet and calves using a deep moisturizing lotion.  Frank Sinatra or Bing Crosby is usually playing in the background and many times the client becomes so relaxed they close their eyes and hum to the music.  A one hour session includes travel time to the residence and 45 minutes of complete pampering.

Storyteller's Assistant for the Elderly

One of the greatest gifts we can give to an elderly loved one is listening to and documenting their stories.  These stories, in turn, become a legacy for their families. 

With over 16 years of experience in the oral history process, I have found that some people need a little more time to warm up to the idea of being interviewed and others just simply enjoy a small amount of additional attention. This is especially true in working with the elderly and/or those with slight memory loss, therefore, in an effort to help these individuals feel more comfortable with the interviewing process our appointment may run over 60 minutes.  A typical interview appointment typically runs 1 hour and produces approximately 40-45 minutes of audio. We can provide you a list of 100 potential questions and though not all questions can be covered in this time frame, you may choose some specific questions you'd like us to address or you may provide other questions of your own.

Please keep in mind that the interview will flow on its own and the outcome depends on what memories are triggered and what path the storyteller creates.  Though we'll gear the interview toward questions you want answered, please be aware that every story is unique in its outcome and we cannot promise the storyteller will answer a specific question. The conversation is meant to be casual & unstructured to provide an environment conducive to the best opportunity for memory recall.

Transcription & Editing @ $7 per audio minute
Pricing for a completed transcript is based on audio minutes.
As an example: 40 minutes of transcribed audio x $7 per minute of audio = $280.00 + Interview cost of $120 = Completed transcript cost of $400

40 minutes of audio equals approximately 7,000 typed words and approximately 13-14 single-sided, double-spaced pages with interview formatting. Your audio transcript will be typed word for word and then edited for readability while keeping the tempo and character of the storyteller intact.  The editing process alone takes approximately 10-12 hrs. The storyteller will be given a draft to make any changes before the final copy is sent. You will also receive the audio mp3 file via email and your typed transcript will be inserted into a clear report cover and then mailed or delivered to you. The cover itself does not damage the paper, so you can easily make additional copies if needed.

If photos must be scanned, the charge is $4 per photo.
